Three post-doctoral positions are available in the McCarty laboratory in the Department of Neurosurgery and the Brain Tumor Center at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Two positions will involve basic and translational research in the areas of brain tumor cell biology and mouse models of brain cancer. We are particularly interested in the brain microenvironment, including understanding how tumor cells co-opt the neurovascular unit/blood-brain barrier for selective growth and survival.
One additional position will involve the study astrocyte-endothelial cell contact and communication in neurovascular development and disease. The post-docs will receive training and mentoring in the use of mouse models and in vitro culture systems to study cell adhesion and signaling pathways involved in endothelial cell interactions with astroglial cells or astrocytoma cells.

All applicants should have a PhD and/or MD as well as peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals. A strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology is preferred.

The M. D. Anderson Department of Neurosurgery and Brain Tumor Center are located in the vibrant research environment of the Houston Texas Medical Center, which includes Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas Medical School, the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, and Rice University.
