The laboratory of Prof. Britta Engelhardt at the Theodor Kocher Institute, University of Bern, is seeking two talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to join a pioneering research project within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant "CNS-IP: CNS Immune Privilege", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation.
This innovative and multidisciplinary project aims to unravel how the brain barriers orchestrate central nervous system (CNS) immune privilege, advancing our fundamental understanding of neuroimmunology.

Project Overview

Leveraging newly developed brain barrier reporter mouse models, this project will:

  • Construct a comprehensive brain barrier atlas at single-cell resolution.
  • Investigate 3D anatomy and function of the brain barriers in both health and neuroinflammation
  • Utilize cutting-edge imaging techniques including confocal and light sheet microscopy, two-photon imaging, and synchrotron radiation µCT.
  • Bridge mouse and human biology by integrating 3D MRI data with histological analysis of human brain tissue.
