I am writing to express my interest in serving as a Trainee Member of the IBBS Steering Council. I earned my Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Neuroscience from Texas Tech University (May 2025), where I studied CNS disorders, aging, BBB dysfunction, and drug delivery. My current postdoctoral research explores how anesthetics affect BBB integrity and cognition in aging, and I will soon join the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (UPenn affiliated) to investigate mitochondrial dysfunction and BBB health.
I was introduced to IBBS by Dr. Robert Thorne (Denali Therapeutics, where I completed a research internship in 2024) and Dr. Ana Raquel Santa Maria (Wyss Institute, Harvard), whose enthusiasm inspired me to join. Since then, I’ve actively engaged in IBBS Horizons Global Research Rounds and presented my work to peers and mentors.
As a Steering Council Trainee, I bring multidisciplinary expertise in BBB biology, neuropharmacology, and CNS drug delivery; strong communication and mentoring skills; and a proactive approach to trainee outreach, collaboration, and science communication. I am passionate about expanding IBBS’s global visibility (through LinkedIn), fostering cross-lab partnerships, and supporting early-career researchers.
Thank you for considering my application. I would be honored to contribute to the continued growth and impact of IBBS.
